Dr. Stacey Gibbons brings over 30 years of experience as an anesthesiologist, combining expertise in private practice, academics, and military medicine. A graduate of Boston University School of Medicine (MD, 1988) and Morehouse College (BA in Biology, 1984), Dr. Gibbons has dedicated his career to advancing patient care and medical education.
Dr. Gibbons is a proud veteran of the United States Air Force, where he served during Desert Shield and Desert Storm as Chief of Medicine and squadron flight surgeon. During one tour in South Korea, he had the honor of flying an F-16 jet, reflecting his commitment to service and adaptability in high-pressure environments.
Dr. Gibbons has held numerous leadership roles, including serving as Medical Director of the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) at UTMB Galveston from 2008 to 2018. He has been deeply involved in medical education, serving as a facilitator for the Practice of Medicine program at UTMB, Director of Problem-Based Learning for residents (2010-2013), faculty mentor, mock board examiner, and member of the resident selection committee. Currently, Dr. Gibbons serves as the Interim Division Chief of Obstetrical Anesthesia in the Department of Anesthesiology at UTMB.
